Perhaps one of Spain’s most outstanding regions for hiking the Picos de Europa has a natural and enchanting beauty that’s assured by the extensive National Park system that protects it from thoughtless development. The area is a haven for wildlife, both flora and fauna, and is home to some extremely rare and protected species like the bear, wolf and griffon vulture.
Over the coming twelve months we will be developing two new treks in this hiking paradise. The first trek will be a 6 village tour-de force of the Camaleño Valley, designed by a local guide this circular trek features the forests and pastures of the lower valleys. This trek can be done The second is a three centre trek featuring the high peaks area, only open in the summer months it includes stays in some of the highest and remotest hotels in Spain. The treks take in the high pastures, you will see sheep, cattle and horses grazing and see at close hand the craggy peaks that give the area its name.
